GM in China [edit] General Motors is the maker of best-selling foreign car in China, with 12.5% market share. The Buick brand is particularly strong, led by the C segment car Buick Excelle. Cadillac initiated sales in China in 2004, starting with imports. GM also took the Chevrolet brand there in 2005, transferring the former Buick Sail to that mark. The company manufactures most of its vehicles for the Chinese market locally through its joint venture with Shanghai GM. The joint venture with SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile has also succeeded in selling trucks and vans under the Wuling brand.
